Is anything better than shortbread during the holidays? This wonderful Spiced Shortbread Cookies treat is rich, sweet, and perfect with a hot beverage. This twist on the classic shortbread has a nice mix of spices added for interest.

- 1/2 cup chilled unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder

Step 1 – Preheat and Prepare the Baking Sheet
Preheat the oven to 325 °F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Getting everything ready ahead of time makes the process smooth and stress-free, so you can enjoy making these cookies just as much as the finished treat.
Step 2 – Mix the Dough Ingredients of the Spiced Shortbread Cookies
Mix the dry ingredients together. In a food processor, add the dry ingredients and the cut-up cubes of butter, and give it several pulses until it resembles a crumbly mixture.

Step 3 – Shape and Chill the Dough
Take it out of the food processor onto a floured surface and knead it into a dough. Shape it into a roughly 8-inch circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Take a knife and cut into wedges. Poke holes on the surface using a fork. Crimp the edges if you wish. Chill the Spiced Shortbread Cookies in the fridge for 20 minutes.

Step 4 – Arrange the Dough for Baking
Arrange the dough of on the prepped cookie sheet.
Step 5 – Bake and Cool
Bake for 18–20 minutes until the edges turn golden brown. Take it out and, using a knife, cut the wedges while it is still warm. Let the cookies cool completely on a cooling rack before serving.
